He then decided to relocate to Portland with his family. When Brett Meador and his family relocated to Portland in 1996, he felt that it was time for him to establish his church, and with the help of his wife, he established Athey Creek Christian Fellowship.
He started the fellowship with his family and a friend. At first, they would meet at Athey Creek Middle School to study the Bible verse by verse. The church continued to expand as they continued to study the Bible in that manner.
