The remarkable journey of Carrington McKenzie Richardson, affectionately known as Carrie or Care Bear, began on October 30, 2009. Sadly, at the tender age of 13, she departed this world and entered eternal rest on February 28, 2023, in Charlotte, NC. In this article, we pay tribute to Carrie’s vibrant life, highlighting her achievements, involvements, and the everlasting impact she left behind.

Early Life and Education

Born and raised in Charlotte, NC, Carrington embarked on her educational journey with Lil Bundles of Joy Daycare, where she was cherished dearly. She then went on to attend prestigious institutions such as Nations Ford Christian School, Pitts School Road Elementary, J.N. Fries STEM Middle School, and Jackson Day School, embracing the joy of learning.

Carrie was not only exceptionally intelligent and dedicated but also an esteemed honor student, demonstrating her passion for knowledge. Her commitment extended beyond academics, as she actively participated in DECA (Distributive Education Clubs of America), an esteemed organization focusing on marketing, management, and entrepreneurship. We will forever miss her presence as she would have proudly walked alongside her fellow graduates in the class of 2027.

Carrie contributed to the Nursery, Hospitality, Youth Praise and Worship, and Media Ministries. Her commitment to ministry was profound, as it seemed she had always been there, ready to assist in any capacity. Whether it was lending a hand to her mother, Christina, or actively participating in church initiatives, Carrie’s devotion shone through.

Not confined to her church activities, Carrie continued to exhibit leadership and service within her school and local community. She showcased her athletic abilities as an outside hitter for the 13& Regional Hammerheads volleyball team, representing Carolina UVC.

On the court, her competitive spirit was awe-inspiring. In addition to volleyball, Carrie enthusiastically engaged in dancing, cheering, track and field, softball, and basketball, even achieving a personal record of 11 points in a game. Her versatility extended beyond sports; she also embraced her role as a Girl Scout in Troop 1604 and contributed to the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA).

Beyond her academic and extracurricular pursuits, Carrie had a deep passion for cooking and traveling.

Carrie possessed an impeccable sense of fashion, a true connoisseur of makeup, shopping, and sneakers. Her style was a reflection of her vibrant personality, embracing trends while remaining true to herself. However, it was her loving nature that left an indelible mark on the hearts of those around her. If love could be bottled, it would bear the label “Carrington.” Carrie, our cherished Care Bear, will always be remembered for her radiant smile, capable of brightening any room, her infectious laughter, and her unwavering support, encouragement, and care for others.

Carrie’s legacy lives on through the cherished memories she left behind. She is survived by her loving mother, Christina Thomas Richardson of Charlotte, NC, and her devoted fathers, Alton Richardson, and Kendal Snowden, both from the same city.

She leaves behind her sister, Kailynn Snowden of Fort Mill, SC, and her brother, Justice Snowden of Alexandria, VA. Additionally, her great-grandmothers Dorothy Richardson of Spring Hope, NC, and Jeanette Thomas of Surry, VA, continue to hold her dear in their hearts.

Carrie’s memory is also treasured by her grandparents, Sylvia Claggett (Larry) of Smithfield, VA, William Thomas, Jr. (Dawn) of Dendron, VA, and Alton (Kimberly) Richardson of Nashville, NC.

She is remembered fondly by her uncles, Anthony Thomas (Briana) of Chester, VA, Alton Richardson, Jr. of Orlando, FL, Christopher Richardson (Shelby) of Wilson, NC, Derrick Snowden of Baltimore, MD, and Keith Eason of Charlotte, NC. Her aunts, Candace Thomas of Richmond, VA, Tamika Wooten (Wayne) of Spring Hope, NC, Latasha Richardson of Nashville, NC, and Esprine Williams of Gastonia, NC, hold her dear in their hearts as well.

Additionally, her godparents, Jacquelyn Moore, Deonne Leath (Avé), and Ebonie Leath, share in the collective remembrance. The Scott family, including Gari, Nicole, Phoenix, Kinnon Scott, her beloved Labradoodle Ash, and a multitude of other relatives and friends, forever cherish the beautiful soul that was Carrington McKenzie Richardson.
